Oh, the rewards of walking!
If you're like me, occasionally you just need a break! Tensions high, needy kids, irritated, sad or anxious? I feel all of these from time to time and I have to admit that one of the first things I do is get out of my house and walk. Are you like me? Have you ever just taken a walk and felt better? Getting out of the stressful environment, breathing the air, and feeling your body move is natural stress-relief.
So WHY do you feel better?
Well, regular movement actually eliminates cortisol from your system. Yes, that's the stress hormone! Walking can calm you down because it sparks nerve cells in your brain that relax the senses. It truly can alleviate moods, energize your body and soul, and wipe out your negative thoughts.
Now that's a whole lot of awesome for something so easy!
There are soooo many wonderful benefits of walking that we have highlighted over the past few months. If you haven't found a good reason yet, you should go back and read them again. I was a believer before, but I am on an absolute soap box now. WALK FOR HEALTH AND LONGEVITY... one of those few things that isn't hard, but reaps incredible benefits.
