Let There Be Light

Normally most activities during this time of year are on the slopes, which provide our bodies with lots of light energy to produce the necessary Vitamin D we need. But it appears that winter took it’s own vacation this year. So we hope that most of your “light therapy” was generated from walking or running outdoors.  If not, let’s talk about light.

The human body needs light to create the biochemical production of Vitamin D.  This vitamin actually affects anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 gene sequences in our body.  This little dance is instantaneous but necessary for the immune system to remain strong and active.  Sure, we should take supplements to help with deficiencies, but nothing beats pure light to begin activation.  And lets face it, walking benefits the entire body. So if you can, get out there and hit the pavement!

Standard Process Moment

Many of today’s farms have been overworked and undernourished.  The vegetables grown today are lacking, or short in the natural vitamins gleaned from a well nourished soil. In light of this, Dr Nielson is an advocate for Standard Process supplements and their sister company, Medi Herb.  Standard Process was started by Dr. Royal Lee and has been family owned since 1929. Their products come from their own organic farms where on-site juicing and drying processes begin before they are delivered to the manufacturing facility one mile down the road. Many of their products begin with ingredients like pea vine, beets, and buckwheat. They also offer a line of products containing PMGs brand extracts sourced from animal glands and organs.

(Yes, you can ingest cow liver with all the benefits and none of the taste!). Let me introduce you to one of their products.

Cataplex D - Helps with Calcium assimilation problems, nosebleeds, hemorrhage, lack of exposure to the sun, hypotension and low blood calcium. Biologically, the ultraviolet rays from the sun convert skin oil to Vitamin D. Vitamin D picks up calcium from the gut and puts it in the bloodstream. From there, Vitamin F takes it from the blood and deposits it in the tissues. Vitamin F is primarily found in oils. In the event of low levels of Vitamin F, Vitamin D also brings calcium back from the tissues and into the bloodstream.

Medi Herb - Originating from Australia these products provide excellence in herbal medicines. Sourcing the best herbal materials with peak potency and the highest purity from sustainable growers forms the foundation of their approach. Medi Herb was co-founded by Dr. Kerry Bone in 1986.  Standard Process is their exclusive US distributor.

Boswelia Complex by Medi Herb - Originally developed for mild discomfort experienced after exercise, this product not only maintains and supports healthy joints, but also supports the normal function of the kidneys, healthy circulation, and provides antioxidant activity. It’s main ingredients are Boswellia gum, Celery Seed fruit, Ginger, and Turmeric. As with anything you eat, please check with your physician if you are pregnant or lactating before using.

Recipe of the month:  Leprechaun’s Mint Chocolate Protein Shake ☘️

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour, sip, and enjoy a refreshing chocolate-mint treat that’s gentle on your liver.

*Although we highly recommend the Standard Process Complete Chocolate, you can substitute any powdered chocolate health supplement.

Note to our patients - They are installing a traffic signal on Main and River Road. There may be (at some point) flagmen directing traffic on Main St. as they are also widening the road.  An alternative route would be to take Michie Lane (from Heber, first left after the bridge).  Go to the stop sign on Fox Den Rd, turn right (or left coming from Midway).  At 110 South, turn left and follow to the stop sign.  To the right you will see the back of our building and our back parking lot.

Hope to see you soon!
